LMC

Thought it might be interesting that Long Motor Company (the LMC of LMC Truck) is selling off one of their core businesses, Victoria British, to Moss Motors. VB occupies an analogous position in the Brit car world as LMC does in the truck world.

I have bought a lot of parts from Vicky B and LMC over the years. Lots of people complain about both but with VB getting ready to be owned by Moss now it is one less competitor to keep prices in check. Say what you want but as the vendors for certain product diminish the prices will rise. Sad the here this!

I have used a fuel tank from LMC and some other parts and never had any problems with them.

I've had to learn where LMC is useful, and where it is not. When it comes to mechanical bits, they're pretty much the same as any parts house, but it is in other areas where they are a hit or miss. In the area of electrical, they do produce some switches and other items that many vendors do not, so they are useful. As for the quality of those electrical items, they've been fine. Now, on the downside of things, I've had experience with their sheet metal parts (ie: fenders, door skins, etc), and in my experience, they've been lousy. The items I've purchased were Taiwan tin, and I could dent them with my finger......not a glowing review. The time in bodywork to bring them to acceptable just isn't worth the price of purchase in my opinion (which is why I spent so much money and time making sure Buford had all real Ford steel instead of the cheap stuff). I've also run into other little chassis parts that don't fit the same as the originals, and you either have to doctor them to work, find a useable original, or find another vendor. So, while I can't give LMC a great review, I can't completely condemn them either.... you just have to be picky with what you need from them.

Interesting, it's a shame Moss/Victoria doesn't cater to Lotuses. We are the red headed step-children of the British car world.
