ok i am just curous what you all with 1st gen (91-94) explorer's have pad for a front end alignment... i am thinking i need one, actually i know it...taking the front suspension apart, replacing all front bushings and replacing upper and lower ball joints would def mean i need one. so what did you guys pay...its too late to call the shops and i want to get a good idea of what this'll cost (to see if i am getting screwed or not).
thanks!
I have a 93 and normally pay about $35 for an alignment. I usually have this done about every year or so. I live in a mountainous area with rough winters and roads. I had to add a caster/camber kit once which brought the alignment total up to $60 from the dealership. As a whole, I think the dealer does a better job aligning than the private shops do. I have had plenty of independents "align" it as far as the specs allow and say that it is done, when in reality it isn't even close. I am sure not all independents do this, just my experience though. This is one of the few times I prefer the stealership.
