2006 Ford E450 Conversion

Just picked up a 2006 Ford E450 Accessible Shuttle Bus to convert over to an RV. 6.0L Diesel engine (why I am here) with just under 50,000 miles. It seemed to be used very little in the last 6yrs. Maybe 1500mi a year. I picked it up and drove it directly to the mechanic, awaiting to hear back how well I did but I came to look for information on the apparently problematic engine and things I should look for / do right away to make it the RV of our dreams for years to come. I was anticipating being a diesel to hear of many of these engines into the 350-400,000 mile range without issues. So here I am, any advice is greatly appreciated I will be sure to post some pictures when I get the bus back home as it was at night when I picked it up and a little bit of a covert operation to get the van to the mechanics about 30mins away without valid tags etc.

Hi and welcome to FTE.
It sounds like quite an adventure getting it to your mechanic. Hopefully all is well with your new unit.

I hope it turned out well!

I believe the 6.0 in the Econolines was de-rated a bit, and that helped with longevity in this type of duty compered to the pickups.

Welcome aboard!
