One option to fix the broken plug is to buy the Time Cert kit. It comes with a drill, drill guide, tap and insert.
The guide will ensure you get the hole straight. You'll get some shavings in the cylinder, but the instructions tell you how to clean them out.
Try an easy out first, the kit is the backup plan if you mess up the threads.
