Howdy all...........as some of you may or may not be familiar with me, I've been a fixture in the '73-'79 forum for several years, as the truck I was usually blabbing about was Buford, my '79 F250 S/C Trailer Special. As circumstances would have it, though, I'm now migrating over to your neck of the woods, as I've made a new addition to the fleet. I'll be retiring at the end of the year, and I've been learning that if I was having any thoughts of purchasing a truck, it'd be better if I did so before I retired. As such, it kind of moved my timeline up a bit. So, I made a recent purchase of a '20 F350 XLT crew longbox 4x4, with the 6.7L (still waiting for the name to come to me). There's a couple extras, as I've got the offroad package, the 12,400 GVWR package, and the camper package, so it's got a few functional add ons. I will be making a few more additions to the truck (ie: wheels, powersteps, gooseneck/fifthwheel hitch, bedliner, etc), but I'm fairly happy with my starting point thus far. Anyway, just wanted to drop by and say howdy to everyone as I'm sure i'll be making the obligatory stops in here with the same tired questions about the powerstroke, as it is my first diesel. I'm not completely inept, as I managed to build Buford, but being new to the diesel world is going to make me pose some questions that may make a few of you roll your eyeballs. I figure it's only fair, as i've been fielding questions about how to do things in the '73-79 forum for years........well, and posing plenty of my own too (LOTS of good/helpful folks in there). So, I'll do my best to research my own questions before hand, but I wanted to provide the obligatory newbie apology early in here (man, I'm back to newbie again...oh well).....'later!
Well, if I infer from your location, and license plate, I'm guessing that's a good thing? Some folks have mixed emotions about the whole 'storm trooper' label, so it can go either way.
2020STX250........ I probably won't go with that name, as while it's probably a good thing for the truck, it probably doesn't fit me too well. Reason is, I was a marksmanship instructor while in the Marine Corps, and don't really want the concept of 'can't hit anything' associated with me....lol
Lin19687..... I've already got the AMP Powerstep XL on order, to include the rear bed step. Wheels will be added, when I figure out backspacing/offset concerns (and can afford them.....spendy suckers). I'll be getting the bed lined in the spring when I get the fifth wheel/gooseneck setup installed in the bed. I don't want to go nuts on 'doo dads' for this truck, as I already have one big baby that gets all the doo dads.....which brings me to.....
Oldstyles.....I appreciate the thumbs up on Buford. I didn't post a picture of him here as this is the Superduty forum, and Buford doesn't strictly fit. Then again, Buford is an F250 Trailer Special 4x4, so you could say he was a Superduty ancestor before Superdutys were a thing. Regardless, thanks again.
