Drip rail failure
Drip rail failure
Hi everyone,
Looking for someone that may have info about a replacement drip rail, new or used, for my truck.
I have a '63 Unibody I'm restoring and the drip rail was so rusted in spots it was completely gone.
All the metal work is complete on the roof repair but I'm having issues building out a new drip rail.
I would consider halting that path and replacing the entire roof if necessary, but it's not my first option.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
I should have mentioned I live in the Los Angeles area, so something close would be best

Good morning,
I can not speak from experience.
I have researched drip rail repairs, refinishing, etc. There seems to be a quite a few options with drip rails, depending on the situation, personal desires, etc..
- From replacement to removal, and it seems there are many products for properly resealing.
I imagine that some of the gurus will chime in, be very helpful as usual!
..thank you to all the gurus for gifting your time, knowledge and assisting people.
Have a blessed day.

Rtcapo 61,
Thanks for the reply and pics.
looks like you had some really nice work done on your truck repairing it.
I ended up piecing mine together with sheet metal I had formed freehand.
I will post pics once I transfer everything over to my new laptop

A common problem that affects all 1961/79's, though it seems to affect 1967/72's the worst.
Ford spot welded the drip rails to the roof, then used paintable caulk to fill in the gaps.
The caulk hardens, chips off, water seeps in, rust begins, soon spreads into the roof. Not Pleasant!
