DEF Sensor

Just left my local mechanic and Ford is saying that we need to replace the DEF tank because the sensor inside is throwing a code. The gauge in the truck is saying that the DEF is 3/4 full which is what looks to be in the tank, so it seems that the level gauge is working. Ford is saying that the new tank is $2k+ and that is what needs to be replaced because you can't get to the sensor. Hoping someone has some suggestions (other than delete it!)

2017 F350 6.7L with 55k on it

Thanks for the help in advance

$2K!!?? You can order a new tank from Lakeland Ford for under $300.00. Isn't the DEF system part of emissions? Review this and if I'm seeing it right, it may be covered. Depends on interpretation I guess.

Put in my last post that the DEF tank can be purchased for under $300 from Lakeland Ford. Not sure why they want $2K for it

Check your batteries. If you have a dead cell in one of your batteries, it will cause strange codes for the DEF system. I had issues and they changed the heater and tank (under warranty thankfully) but I had the same codes come up. I found somewhere to check the batteries. Sure enough one battery had a dead cell. Changed the battery and codes disappeared. Worth checking.
