My '74 has a fairly standard plastic tank but the gauge is a Pro-Comp. I had to replace the sender a while back and picked up a standard sender from Jeff's Graveyard, but it doesn't work with the gauge. Playing with a variable resistor I find that the gauge wants to get 33 ohms for empty and 5 ohms for full.
I cannot find any senders that provide this - any suggestions?
no ele guy here but - ck continuity 1st then find if they sold U one that zeros out on the same (whatts or volts or sompin like dat)
sorry
But they gotta B compatable frm jump (the beginning).
1) dash guage'n sender hafta match (in terms of ohms).
or
2) sometimes the ele part on back of the guage (dash) is 'gone out'.
IVR (instrument volt regulator) it's a seperate lill box (different prt than the guage itself)
&
it's all gotta be well grounded...
Sounds like you might have the wrong sender. I'm guessing you got one for a '74 but it sounds like you have a '77 rear tank; '77 was the only year to have a plastic rear tank.
rear tank sending unit needs 2 match the dash gauge

this 1 yr only sending unit has become avail, altho still a lill rare. Is Jeff the only 1 2 have it?
I purchased 1 a lill while ago. The guy who put it in did so that now it fell inside. Gotta start over but will use the same sender. It wuz registering on the dash.

aint been around in awhile, musta given it to a mechanic?
a '74 is not typically rear tank plastic. an aux side tank may B.
Anything can happen w/a (human) 2 generation ol vehicle…

right below ur last post (this one too) will B 5 posts on what I thought U were asking. Now U seem bout da udder end'a the machine. Can't help, but again: CB's the site. EDIT:
BTW-I saw, possibly ur vehicle, 4 sale on E-Bay. I might have seen aftrmrkt gages. As per earlier comment - the sender has 2 match the ohms of the gague. Possibly go back to the builder w/ur complaint (U should get ur money's worth).
on the other hand (still confused re Q): Today's EFIs often don't require a fuel return line as regulators, pumps, etc meet the need more precisely. Can't comment much as I don't wrk on that/don't have that system. Liking the mechanical better.
