If you find one with something else wrong with it, you may be able to make one good one from the two. I did that on a Nissan once. The original one had an electrical issue, and the wrecking yard replacement had a broken CD changer. Swap some parts back and forth, boom, one good working unit.

I'd bet the electrolytic capacitors are failing, much like the ECMs...they have a life span of about 25 years.
