Need Entertainment Help

Hello all, the stock radio that came in my truck is shorting out. I have a 1995 F250 XL with a 460 Supercab. The used stock radios are very expensive. I’m looking for suggestions on a Bluetooth cd radio receiver that is EASY to install. I am new to electrical wiring and learning on the go! So far I’ve been successful but I need a NO brainer install if there is such a thing for an old man! Any help, suggestions, and replies will be greatly appreciated,
Grant

Any aftermarket radio will work just fine....

You need to buy the radio and a vehicle specific mounting kit and a vehicle specific radio wiring harness.

The wiring is very straight forward.

The wiring harness for the vehicle just plugs into the plugs that come out of the back of your factory radio.

Your new radio will come with a harness that plugs into the back of the radio.

All wires are generally color coded and marked to make for easy attachment. (red to red and yellow to yellow etc.)

you can solder the wires together or take the easy way out and just use the red insulated butt splices to put the wires together.

The wiring harness you want for your truck is easy to find. Take a look at the main page on Crutchfield.com. There is a tool towards the bottom of the page that you can input your vehicle info and it will spit out all the parts and pieces that are compatible with your truck.

I put this one in mine and the bluetooth works great. Comes with a mic.
Amazon Amazon
Do yourself a favor and stay away from Kenwood and JVC(Same company) I put one in there originally and it lasted 2 weeks before an error code came up and it would not work. Found out it is a very common issue.

Thankfully my original radio is still working well. I bought a cheap $20 Bluetooth fm transmitter so I can keep the factory look and still have bluetooth functionality with no stupid cords hanging around.

I actually find most of the new aftermarket radios to be annoying with too many buttons, unnecessary features, blinking lights, and poor ergonomics. Unless you are an audiophile, I'd just pull an OEM one from a junkyard for a few bucks or have yours repaired.

Do you happen to know who or where I could send my stock radio to? I would prefer to go that route rather than buy something I have no idea how to operate!

Not off the top of my head, IIRC, there is a guy that may be on the forum. Google might be your best bet.

Check this out...

https://replacementradios.com/ford-c...8bb979cc79e5a9

Also.... thinking this through, I bet that there are plenty of vehicles Ford used the same radios on, other than the F-series trucks. Pull the radio you have in there again and look for the part number on it somewhere and just search eBay and google for that part number. I bet you find a nice one for under a hundred bucks.

I believe the members name is Crashtestdummy.

He repairs our old PCM'S and just ask for shipping to be paid by the member. He has an extensive background in electronics.
