Can anyone tell me or show a pic of where the starter button is wired on my 52 F1? I'm rewiring and forgot to write this down. Has a 4 term solenoid with batt on one side and cable to starter on other. Two small terminals in center. Also is 12v negative ground with one wire alternator.Been that way for a while but decided to get rid of 70 year old wiring.
original owner rewired it in the 70s to neg ground, one wire gm alternator and this solenoid. Not sure why it but it's been working this way since then. I just forgot to write down the wire termination when I pulled all the old wiring out.Plus my ignition switch fed the pushbutton from the on terminal.
Just found it.The small terminal on the battery cable side to + and it cranks away. I can't believe I did'nt remember that from my teen years when we would start Fords with a wire with alligator clips and a screwdriver.Oh well, almost 69 and memory's slipping. Thanks anyway.
The wire harness you are making should have three wires - 1 black 12 gauge wire for ground, 1 red with blue hash marks 16 gauge for the starter button, and 1 yellow 10 gauge for either the junction block or to alternator (if you have a junction block).
Got it figured out. Its the terminal on the right near the cable going to the starter.Figured that out with my screwdriver. I have the solenoid wired as such, battery to left post of solenoid and starter to right post. Push button powered from the ignition switch to the right side small terminal. The alternator is a one wire directly to battery. That's all and it's working now.I'm using all new wire of the correct gauge for 12v so all the frayed cloth covered original is gone.
