Noticed last night my wife's truck has a slight knock coming from the right side of the engine, it increases in speed and sound as the RPMs goes up. It's still fairly quiet, you have to have the radio off to hear it in the cab but didn't make the sound before. Got an appointment on Thurs to have the dealer look at it. Hopefully it isn't something serious.
ETA. Truck is a 2018 with 30,000 on it so it's still under warranty.
I have had a cracked exhaust manifold tick. Just a thought, I'm not a mechanic. just throwing it out. I don't know if the EB has had that problem, the 5.4 had that issue.
Good luck.
Similarly, I've had an exhaust manifold gasket leak at the block that gave a tick sound every time that cylinder fired.
OP, let us know what they find out.
Wife got the truck to the dealer today and they couldn't find anything wrong but my wife did say she didn't notice the noise today. Dealer said our warranty is good for another 30000 miles and to just keep an eye on things to see if something changes.
Kind of what I figured would happen. My 6.2 did the same thing last winter, one morning I started it and it was making a knocking noise that lasted for the six mile drive to work. It did that the one day and has never done it since.
