Looking for Excursion to replace current tow vehicle

Hi all,
I am finally retiring my E-250 7.3IDI from tow service and am looking for an Excursion to take its place. I will be pulling a 30' camper with a listed dry weight (I know these aren't worth a lot) of 7100 lbs.....so loaded it would be 8500 +/-. I need an SUV for the family, so a truck is out and there doesn't seem to be any other SUV that fits the bill.

What I am looking for:
Mileage: 240K or less
Motor:v10,7.3 or bulletproofed 6.0
4wd (we get a bit of snow and I live in the country)
Minimal rust

Beyond that options are negatable. Probably willing to spend in the up to the $10000 range, but want to pay a fair price.

Are these reasonable requests, or am I trying to win the lottery with it? Any ideas on the best places/websites etc to look for one? I would be willing to fly out and drive one home.

I was kinda hoping ya'll would be able to point me in the right direction. I have been keeping an eye on Marketplace, Craigslist and a number of other car sites.

Thanks for the help.

I think for your needs and wants a nice Southern/Western rust free V-10 EX should fit into the budget nicely. Maybe even with some room to do a regear on it if you want.
My V-10 EX on 35"s with 4.88 gears (effective ratio of 4.39) is our dedicated tow rig for our 12,000lb scaled weight TT and it handles that job with no issues. I have logged over 46K towing miles all over the Easter States and a little bit of Canada so far with plans to visit many more States and Provinces in the next couple of years. My towing mileage varies, of course, with weather conditions, terrain and our timetables, but typically we see between 8 and 9 MPG on all Interstate Highway trips cruising 65-ish MPH. My best that I've seen twice was 9.5 MPG on trips over 400 miles, trips on back roads with small towns and more stop and go will drag it down to the 7 MPGs.

Thanks for the information. I live in Indiana, but have family in south Texas. They are looking around for me as well.

Thanks for the link. It looks like there are some good options. I would rather purchase from a enthusiast than just anyone since they would probably be a little more knowledgeable and have taken better care of the vehicle.

Just have to get the Acadia sold and then I will be ready to pull the trigger on an Excursion.
