I have a 2001 7.3 that is surging at idle when cold. Once the truck warms up no issues and has plenty of power. My initial thought was ICP or a sticking injector. The truck also has 5 coeds
P0113- IAT sensor 1 CKT high
P1670- communication error has occurred between the PCM and the IDM
P1209- Injector control peak pressure change test fault
P0470- Exhaust pressure sensor ckt malfunction
P1211- Injector control pressure beyond desired (engine running)
My question/thoughts are that if it was something electrical then the truck would be down on power the entire time? But in my case onces it is warm no problems. So would a bad/ sticking injector cause all the electrical coeds? Or would a bad ICP sensor only acted up when cold?
Any input would be appreciated. Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts before I start chasing all the codes.
Hook up your good OBD2 scanner, and try and clear codes. Restart and see what codes come up, then tackle those codes.
you might even have to disconnect batteries for a few minutes, then reconnect. Then see what codes. Sometimes computers get a glitch.
just saying!
