vent window latch question

on a 79 f150 reg cab. are the vent window latches supposed to lock in place when closed. and then you push the chrome pin in to open the latch ? am i wrong about that ?
i have a set off of a 79 that lock and on a 78 E150 that lock when closed. according to lmc you have to buy the additional lock assembly to keep someone from opening the latch.

page 47 in their catalog

thanks

hey Bill - if you read this do any of your diagrams show a " pivot washer" in behind the latch ? thanks

You are correct. The later year (78/79?) had the locking pin. Earlier ones did not.

That’s correct, when you close the latch, the pin is supposed to pop out and lock it in place. I have found that the spring is too weak or that there is too much friction on that pin - so it’s hit or miss. This is on my ‘79 f100
