351W PCV routing

Hey everyone. As I'm working on my truck I noticed there's no PCV valve or hoses on the engine. My truck is a 72 F250 CrewCab with a 351W out of a 91 F350. It's carb'd with the Edelbrock 1406 600 cfm carb and Performer intake so no EFI. The valve covers are just open to atmosphere and I'm wondering if I need to add the PCV to this or not, or if I can just put a filter on the valve covers. It looks like the passenger side used to have a hose connected to it as there's a 90* elbow, but the driver side cover has nothing on it. A few questions,

1) Is the PCV needed?
2) If so, does anyone have pictures of how it's routed and hooked up so I can add it? Here are a few pictures of my engine bay:

before 3G alt upgrade and AC install. Yes, I know I need a new kickdown cable. It's currently on order.

before 3G alt upgrade and AC install. Yes, the K&N filter will be cleaned before I drive this thing.

After 3G alt upgrade, AC install and complete re-wire. I'll be cleaning up the wiring and getting it in bundles and covers soon. It's a work in progress trying to get this on the road.

Thanks for the help.

It's a good idea to get the PCV system functioning again; it removes the combustion blow-by that would otherwise contaminate the oil.

The thing on the passenger side VC is the PCV valve. Pull it out and shake it to make sure the weight inside is loose and rattles. Connect a hose from that 90 fitting to a source of intake manifold vacuum. Then put a filter of some sort on that pipe coming off of the filler neck on the driver's side VC. The idea is at certain vacuum levels, the PCV valve will open, which allows the gasses in the crank case to be drawn into the intake manifold to be burned by the engine. When this happens, it will draw air from the pipe on other side, so you want to make sure that air inlet is filtered. It could be something really simple:

Thanks! Appreciate the quick response. I'll probably just get a new PCV just in case and the filter on the Drivers side VC. The link seems to have everything I need. Appreciate it.

BTW, I also did a 3G alternator conversion recently on my 69 Mustang, except it uses the old V-belt instead of serpentine:

It's good to have more current capacity in case I need it for something later.

Your chrome air filter, should have a place for the PCV to go to, may be capped off. Pull the air filter off, and have a look at the bottom chrome.
The driver side breather pipe(I call it), under the oil filler cap, hose went to the air filter box of the 1991. Don't plug it, it needs to breathe.
