PCV part,What is it?

87 ford F150 351w, What is this part looks like some kind of pop off, put a new PCV valve on was playing with this now it is a big vacuum leak.





I went ahead and took it out, but want to know what it is? And if I need it?

I believe that's a one-size-fits-all PCV valve for multiple applications. You should be able to cap the top port - you definitely don't want a vacuum leak.

Looks like a thermal vent valve to me.

I think he's talking about the part in the hose just forward of the PVC valve Eric, not sure what that is, in all my years don't recall ever seeing one before. Is that stock or something someone added at some point?

Yea a "thermal vent" or a check valve of some sort? Completely stops vac supply at given times?
Regardless looks like a problem waiting to happen....

I guess I couldn't see the forest for the trees

I haven't seen anything like what is in-line, so I'm not sure what that is either. All I can think of is that somewhere along the line it was something someone installed to help with an oil burning problem or something along those lines.

Did a little digging out of my own curiosity. Could it be whats called the heater hose adapter, a diagram a saw show it may be that.
