Understood now. I'd say $2200 is a pretty substantial amount. Giving the first guy a shot at matching is a fair thing to do. But if he can't or won't, then I'd definitely take the second guy's offer. You're under no obligation to the first guy.
This. A dealer is just a 'store' that happens to sell vehicles. You have no obligation to spend more money at dealer A because they gave you a price first.
It sure is funny how the replies in this thread seem to be ready to OK dropping the deal the OP made to order a truck. But let’s put the shoe on the other foot. What if you ordered the same truck and waited 3 months to get it and you go to pick it up and the dealer said,” well you did not sign anything and someone offered me 2200$ more so I sold it”. Everyone would be trashing the dealer. The OP should have shopped the deal and stick with it. Just my thoughts.
It’s all good. That dealer has a great rep in FL. They were the only ones to even suggest the build, the only ones to spend a while searching for a truck, and they offered the most for my trade that I was wicked upside down in because I just bought it a year earlier trying to be cheap. So once I made the decision I wasn’t even worried about any refund. The truck was coming home from that dealer. And after dealing with 30+ dealers in the state, that service was refreshing.
If you're satisfied with the deal, that's all that matters. As you've seen you'll get many and varied opinions here. But if you can sleep at night, then it absolutely is all good.

Simple reason. Anytime I've ever ordered a truck the dealer is always the one to tell me right away that they'll have no problem selling the truck if I don't take it.

I have seen exactly this, on an ordered truck, the morning before a scheduled "pick-up" at a Ford Dealer here in the Mid-Atlantic DC Area. So while I hear your point, it's a two way street, and plenty of people (dealers and buyers) still operate on the principle of a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush/Cash is king and money talks. Not trying to be disagreeable, just pointing out that this does happen even at high volume / reputable dealers. If Ford Corporate cared that much about this issue they would have nationwide rules in place to control their independent dealers....they don't.

The original dealer probably wont offer the $2200 extra because they know he will need to order another truck. The buyer would need to put too much time into it jacking with it.
