Ultraranger! Proportioning Valve

@ultraranger Hi Ultraranger and everyone. This is my first time posting. I know this topic has come up many time. I have a 1969 F100 project. I am upgrading my brake system. I am following Ultraranger's brake system setup with disc brakes from a 76 F100, all new prebent brake lines from Inline Brake system, master cylinder from an early explorer but I am stuck on purchasing a proportioning valve. I am looking for a 1984 F-150 OEM proportioning valve to match his setup but so far the only OEM valve I have found on ebay is a F250 part number E4TA-2B524-H2A. Would this valve work on my brake system or do I need to find a different valve?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Are you stuck on OEM? There are very good aftermarket valves.

E4TA-2B524-H1A and H2A are "engineering " numbers, not Part numbers. Ford has 2 different number systems. One more for Ford and one more for Parts warehouses and dealers. The engineering number usually crosses over to the part number. In your case, that engineering number crosses to part number E4TZ2B257A. Which I believe is the one Ultraranger used.

Please take note that there is a difference between a "Proportioning Valve" and a "Brake Pressure Differential Switch".
My 1970 doesn't have a "Proportioning Valve".

Ultraranger, would the brake presdure differential valve from f250 work on my f100? What problems would i have installing this valve? Once again, thank yoi for your input.

The early ford 'proportion valve' is just a pressure spike reducer and doesn't 'proportion' the brake pressure between the 2 circuits. If the goal is to reduce rear wheel lockup, get an adjustable valve instead. Good info over on fordification.

So far as I know, there is no such thing as a "brake pressure differential valve". The brake pressure differential switch on my truck shorts to ground if either half of the brake system loses pressure; when that happens, it applies ground so the brake warning light on the dash can illuminate.

You are both correct. The brake pressure differential switch screws on to the brake pressure differential valve. The valve is what tells the switch to illuminate the dash light.
