Only because Houska Auto here in Ft Collins decided they didn't like my PCV catch can. The same set up has been there since 2013, and I go to Houska every year!! Opacity is fine, as usual. Just pi**es me off. I know, rules are rules, but my truck no longer drips oil from the boots. And, to top it off, Oct 28th was "Thank a First Responder Day", and yes I am one. Can't stand the irony.
Thanks for letting me rant. Since I am up early guess I will go rig up my old hose to the air inlet, so they can charge me 47.50 to look at it and give their blessing!
Must be 2020 still.
Tom, I wonder if this has anything to do with Polis adopting the CA standards? When you go back to waste more money, see if you can find out what's changed that made them reject something that has been fine for so long.
Tom, thank you for what you do for what you do for the people and families in your area and thank you to those like you that allow us to sleep comfortably each night knowing that someone is just a phone call away if we need them.
I fear that emissions testing is only going to get worse for people like you in places that have them as time goes on. Places like CO, ID, UT and what not are seeing more and more refugees from CA and it is only a matter of time, well you know where I am going with this...
2020 has been an insane year. I saw something the other day that said...
"Before I agree to 2021, I would like to see some terms and conditions"
I thought it was pretty funny.
You already know this, but your best bet is to remove the CCV drip can for the inspection and replace it after the inspection. Have a good day and thank you again for what you and people like you do for people like me everyday.
Looks like CO has followed in CA footsteps, expect the requirements to become more stringent every couple of years, when CA implemented diesel smog checks the law was phased in over 10 years with a clear objective to remove old diesels off the road.
if you want to be ahead of the curve make sure your “monitors” in the OBD are all capable of being set to “ready” or green light status. When CA implemented Diesel smog you were allowed to pass with 1 monitor Not Ready. 2 years ago when the newest phase was rolled out it screwed many folks who have altered injectors or pcm outside the “all monitors” self test the pcm performs. Who knew this stuff was built in back then ?
Thanks Sous, appreciate that. I feel guilty some times because I enjoy the work so much.
So, bought a pre formed hose at NAPA that fit, didn't even have to turn the doghouse back around. They passed it this time. Only odd thing was I left the tuner in 80DD for the first, and had 20% opacity at 60mph. Passed, but put it back to stock for good measure Friday and showed .02 at 60. Hydra, stock injectors, etc. There is a spot on the forms concerning the PCV system, probably just overlooked in the past. Oh well. Everything back to "my normal".
Mine failed in Parker, CO for the Mishimoto catch can as well. I just put it back to stock. I'm too old to mess with this every year. I have a basically new Mishimoto High flow catch can and hoses if anyone is interested
Good to hear you are legal again Tom. Thanks for updating the thread as well. This gives ideas and hope to people that have to deal with inspections in their county or state.
Also, it is OK if you enjoy your work. I am grateful you do as someone in your line of work should be able to enjoy what they do.
