Hey everyone! Right now I am in the process of taking a 5.0L engine and E40D transmission out of a 1993 Bronco and putting a 5.8L and a E40D transmission from a 1995 Bronco in the 93 bronco. Just looking for some info on what’s different between the transmissions, I’ve read some that the solenoid is different but I’m not sure what that means and basically just looking for any other info that I might need to know when putting the newer trans into the older bronco because I know there is some differences, and also if there is anything different between the engines as well but it sounds like the only difference between the 5.0 and 5.8 is that the 5.0 has a knock sensor and the 5.8 doesn’t and that the 5.8s exhaust Y pipes are a little bigger. Thanks everyone!
Do you have to switch the PCM and whole wiring harness? I read some stuff that said I just needed to switch the solenoid pack, and trying to avoid swapping the whole harness if possible but if I have to then I have to
If you just swap the PCM everything except the knock sensor should work. The newer PCM is compatible with the newer solenoid body. Or you could swap the solenoid body and not the PCM. But I'll bet the 5.8L PCM runs the 5.8L engine better than a 5.0L PCM will run it.
Another question I had if anyone knows the answer.. so the 93 bronco was actually the one with the 5.8. It also had a trans cooler that the 95 with the 5.0 did not have but I was going to put the trans cooler on the 95 to go along with the 5.8L engine. Only problem is that the air bag sensors on the 95 block the spot where the trans cooler bolts up on the 93- the 95 core support does have the same holes for it thought. So, can I move the air bag impact sensor else where to accommodate the cooler? Or, since I am switching to the 93 PCM to go along with the 5.8 as well, can I just remove it all together, or will that cause issues? Just unsure if the PCM powers that or not and I’m assuming if it does then they will be dead anyways since the 93 does not have air bags. Thanks!
Edit: Also, the guy I am doing this for wants the heater core from the 93 put into the 95 because he said the one in the 95 is bad. Only problem is that the 93 runs on R12, while the 95 uses r134a in the AC/heat system. So for it all to work correctly I need to switch the heater core, A/C compressor and condenser correct? Thanks everyone

The heater core and the AC are two separate systems. One has nothing to do with the other.
Do you mean evaporator core instead of heater core? The evaporator core is part of the AC.
The big black box that’s on the fire wall that has the A/C accumulator attached to it is what I thought was the heater core as well but maybe I’m wrong in my thinking? Sorry if these all seem like dumb questions but that area isn’t something I know a lot about and I just don’t want to go switching the wrong stuff and have nothing work or cause damage haha.
I have a 1996 5.0 5 speed and it was a plow truck before I owned it, so the forks got worn out. I have already got the rug out and the top with the stick. I just need to know how to get them out.

The heater core is removed through an access panel behind the glove box.
Ah okay that makes it a little easier then. So the only other question I have then is with that air bag crash impact sensor, will I hurt it by moving it to a different location, or removing just the right hand side one? Or would I just be better off leaving the transmission cooler off?
