'79 cab swap
Donor:1979 F-350, swapped 429, manual, two-wheel drive, A/C, gauges, non-cruise, non-tilt column, custom trim (140" wheelbase which should be irrelevant?)
Recipient: 1979 F-150, swapped 460, automatic, four-wheel drive, A/C, gauges, cruise, tilt column, Lariat trim.
I need to find a manual 4x4 trans/transfer case/shifter/correct trans cover (or modify current manual cover?)
will use one door from the donor, so will need to prep the door for racetrak trim.
need to figure out which style of mirrors to use and fill or drill necessary holes.
Wiring harnesses should be identical (may need to accommodate for the fact there is no factory cruise in the donor cab, but should be able to move required parts from current cab)?
Will the recipient brake lines connect to the donor master cylinder AND work correctly?
What about steering columns? Shouldn't I be able to swap my current 4x4/auto/cruise into the other cab? There is a post on here on converting an auto trans tilt to manual trans tilt, I might do that also.
I guess I need to research the differences in the column connector between cruise and non-cruise...as long as there are simply open slots for the cruise wires, it will be easy. I swapped power doors onto my daughter's 2005 focus and harvested the necessary wires and gem module, it was fairly easy with no conflicting wires...
am I missing anything major/obvious? Any discussion is appreciated.
