Need advice for the 350 versus 450 for towing a 8.5' wide, 9' tall trailer with gooseneck to tail dimension of 38'. This trailer hauls styrofoam so it never exceeds 15,000# Gross Weight, but it is long and wide, so a tighter turning circle would be beneficial. I don't really want the diesel in the 450 as I suspect the 7.3 gas in the 350 would be fine. So the primary benefit of the 450 is the turning radius and bigger brakes are never bad. Is there any other reason to consider an extra $10,000 for the 450?

It's $10000 more for the GAS F-450? That'd be a big NO for me if true.
Do not have a CDL; What should I consider with derating? I only considered a flatbed being more expensive to register in California than a pickup, but only about $500/year if I remember correctly.

I believe he means 500.00 more yearly. My 2020 F250 is 987.00, my 2019 F450 is 1370.00 and my 2016 F-550 chassis tagged for 30k is 1900.00 with the CVRA fee.

I googled it and it said if your trailer is over 10,001 gvwr then you need a CDL. You would also need it if your combo is over 26,000.
So I would get them to rate your trailer to 10,000 if you haven’t already got it and get a truck that keeps it under 26,000 combined.
If you do not think you will be over 21,400 you could do a 350 srw at 11,300 or 11,400 which helps in your state and then a 10,000 rated trailer. If you get one with axles far back you may be able to gross around 12,500 without being over loaded at a weigh station.
