Kind of depends on how you use the truck. I bumper pull a race trailer so I use Diamondback covers on both of my super duty trucks. They make a few options that allow you to have different bed access points. These are the HD covers and can be removed in about 10 minutes if needed. One person can install and remove them (I do) but obviously it would be easier with two people. You can also unhook the front or rear section and it will fold up and over and lay flat so you can load up taller items if needed without pulling the entire cover off.
I did the Retrax Pro with the roof rack tracks in the side rails, I love the cover, it is my third one, the first two weren't the pro so were polycarbonate slats, this one is the aluminum slats and it is really strong, looks great. And the roof rack tracks let me put roof rack cross bars and a bike rack over the bed, makes it easy to carry the bike, especially if I am towing.
I have a Retraxpro that I used for just over a year on my '19 short bed that is like new that I will make someone a deal on just to get it out of my garage, I went to a long bed truck and can no longer use it. It would need to be picked up.
Extang Exceed. Very weatherproof. Tailgate still drops with push of a button. Initial build quality a bit shoddy but a shop vac and tightening a few screws had it as it should have been in short order.
I've had the BakFlip G2 on my Ram (with ramboxes) and had a few issues with quality (one of the ribs that holds it down pulled away from the cover) but it was very watertight. So watertight in fact that in cold weather it sealed my tailgate shut when it froze (not a pretty picture learning about that issue from border patrol). When I got the F250, I was reluctant to go BakFlip again due to the issues I had with the last one. But with the rebates on offer at the time, it was $1200 (Cdn) cheaper to go with a BakFlip MX4 (and free BakBox they were offering) than the Truck Covers USA Work Cover Jr that I wanted. This one's holding up a lot better thant the G2 I had, but isn't as waterproof. I'm not sure if it's the different seal (which fixes the freezing issue) or the cuts in the tailgate for the bed step that's the issue, but I get a bit of water at the tailgate with with cover. Not a lot, but enough that I don't keep boxes right at the tailgate.
i dont like mine, but it is to big a hassel to rebox, itll go with the truck in a cpl years, i mean it is what it is, its tough, its not water proof, and only open in the full open position, looks fine, doesnt rattle. smooth in and out, hard to reach on my 19 250 with plow package, And it was a xmas gift, so whatt ya do. lol
I really like to stay under 1k for this cover. [...]
Several posts about Diamondback covers follow. Hey, can you guys let me in on the secret to getting a Diamondback cover for less than $1k? I want in on that deal!
