Hi,
I got my new truck with the front buckets and center console and I need idea's on where to mount my CB Radio, I don't want to see it up on the dash, in the big center console ?, need ideas and pics would be appreciated, Also where and how did you mount your magnetic mount antenna.
Thanks Rihc,
Rugged Radios offer stick-on (adhesive based flexible) magnets for magnetic base antennas to secure too and suction cup bases for windows for antenna bases. 3M too offers adhesive flexible stick-on magnet material that can be ordered in squares of various dimensions or cut to size.
I have a Cobra 75 WX ST mounted behind my driver’s seat with the remote just resting in the forward part of the console. I ran the cord between the seat and console. Works well for me.
Breaker, breaker 19,.......do people still use CB radios and if so, why? 🧐
When we go camping we usually travel in a group from two to eight Rv's , communication between is so much easier, we also listen to traffic updates from the truckers and NOAA for severe weather in real time.
They don't have / want an Iphone
They are out of cell tower coverage
They don't want to be broadcasting through a repeater or cell tower... A security concern
They appreciate the "Old School" folks who still use them
The big rack mounted whip antenna is cool.
Many more reasons.

A couple weeks ago, I was planned to do a work cycle in the North Central Idaho mountains (outside of a town called Clarkia). We didn't go because of weather, but that's another story.
Part of our work involves driving into the area along logging roads - which I would have done with my F-450 pulling a 35' 5th wheel toy hauler. My understanding is the roads are single lane & windy with lots of blind and cresting corners. The logging trucks (aka semis) go pretty fast on these roads. Each road has a CB channel assigned to it and your job is to call out mile markers while you're travelling along them.
As the IDL land manager told us, failure to do so will probably get you killed. So we bought a CB radio to use in that area.

"User friendly" you say......well that is the oxymoron statement for the day
I think the search function leaves much to be desired. I can't recall how many times I have read an interesting article and when going back "searching" it was exactly that....."searching".
I now use google to search for the related post and find it instantly.
I actually bought this for my F150, and was going to install it for ham radio before Covid, but never got around to it. Now I'm trading into an SD, but the part # seems to be the same, so maybe I'll put it on my F350 at some point.
I got an adaper from builtright industries to mount a cb on. Yes I did not want my cb on the dash but that was the best place. There adapter is steel and you can then mount various things on it. It fits in that cubby on the dash. I just put it in yesterday, will get a final pic and post it.
In the attached you will get the idea though. This pic is with the box removed, we it removed, you can fish your wiring through the dash
i used this mount. It's heavy duty. I have the flip up seat in the front so I was able to mount it to the floor with self tappers. I'm sure you could mount it to the side of your center console. As far as the antenna mount, I mounted mine to the driver's side hood. I'll try to find the mount I used but it attaches to one of the quarter panel bolts. All my readings are perfect here and I get several miles range depending on the environment.

We have CBs mounted in all of our tow rigs. During the summer we use them very frequently when convoying to truck pulls, and the few times a year we convoy equipment around. Very handy to be able to broadcast to a whole group at once, and sometimes you drop out of cell coverage area moving around in rural areas, so this is a fix to that problem as well.
We all have cell phones, but this is handier on the road, in my opinion at least. Also, the whip is kinda cool.
I will probably end up using the same radio mount that senix posted. Seems to be about the best option available, or at least the most natural looking. If I could have gotten a center console, I would have mounted the radio partially inside of the console to "hide" it more.
I actually like it there. From one of the photos I posted, I moved the mount for the CB back so that it does not protrude over the dash.
Easy to fish the wiring through the center stack there are a couple of spots with a clean shot to go to the passenger side or drivers side, your choice.
