Another Hydra question
Well let’s wait and see what Mr Cleatus says about this one.
Are you certain all the tunes from PHP are the same strategy?
hydra flash- TNAA5N5 and in bold red it says to use TNAA4N2( the other night it said to use VPAB0F2)
here is my problem I bet. I checked my chip and just like Sous, gearhead doesn’t list the hex code, just the names. I’m going to delete the php tunes I downloaded the other night and try the different hex code. I will let you know if this worked. Thanks cleatus and sous
Remove all of the tunes from the Hydra chip and save them to an easily accessible place on your PC local drive if you need to. Make sure you commit to the changes, I forget what the process is called.
Load at least 2 of the PHP tunes Hydra Flash recommends. Test switching between the tunes with truck running to see what happens.
Remove all of the PHP tunes and load at least 2 of the GH tunes. Test switching between the tunes with truck running to see what happens.
If all is well at this point, load at least one PHP tune that Hydra Flash recommends and try switching between the PHP and GH tunes with truck running to see what happens.
Let us know the results...
If your vehicle stalls switching between suggested PHP tunes and you have confirmed your PCM code..
Doesnt seem possible besides an hardware issue..
You could also ask from GH,what hex code they used.
268Fords, perhaps you are forgetting to hit the "program" button after making changes to the tunes on the Hydra chip? I believe there is a "program all" as well. I am not trying to insinuate you are doing anything wrong, just trying to help you find a solution to your issue.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Although, I did initially like 1023 tuning when I had my modified stock turbo, I had to downshift to 4th and sometimes 3rd in order to maintain speed up long rolling hills in the low country of SC while towing a 5th wheel. I had to have the boost at 30+ PSI and engine RPM near 3000. I had to have Dusty time down the throttle response because I drive like I have nowhere to be, not like a testosterone raging teenager. Throttle response was waaaaay too quick on the first set.
I got tired of the 3000 RPM and 30+ PSI quickly and moved to another turbo. Now I am towing the same 5th wheel on the same roads at 2000 RPM, 1000 EGT, 20 PSI boost in 5th gear while maintaining speed on cruise control with the 255,000 mile OEM AD injectors running PHP 65 HP tune.
Others have not seen the same results as I have, but they have resolved those dislikes quickly. This is why I no longer recommend the path I took to success. Every truck is different, every application is different, every owner is different.
Do what is right for you because it is your money, time and goals you are trying to meet.
Others go a different route because the route I took was too expensive, will not pass inspection, too difficult to install or they just plain don't like it. Even for me, on a very strict budget and fixed income, it was absolutely the right call for my application, my family and how we travel the entire country with a 5th wheel behind us. Well, when there is no COVID we travel the country.
I am pleased to hear you are somewhat happy with your 1023 tunes, except for maybe the shifting. They may be able help you with that, but maybe not.
