Im having a tough time finding a reg cab shortbed that isnt red, black or white. Found a 2013 that is gray metallic.. meh.. however its and xl with power nothing and vinyl seats. It is possible to upgrade to power windows, locks, etc? Is the factory wiring there? Took a look on ebay and regulators, switches are cheap. As I read it looks like cruise control is just a switch upgrade and change with forscan.. It only has 70k miles and $12,500.. so I can put a little into it I think and not wind up losing a ton. When Im done with it some teen will buy it and destroy it.
Is there any less sound insulation in a base model?

I'm curious: We've ruled out red, black, white and gray. Were you looking for blue or another color? I see a few blue out there, and a bunch of yellow and orange.

Yes. The bigger question is: how much work and money makes it possible.

I believe it is not.

I've heard of a lot of folks doing this.

. . . and either way it will be out of your hands, electric windows or not.

I believe so, and no carpet.
Thanks.. I drove the met gray. When you want to get on it that v6 is super loud. With no carpet, all I heard when I came to a stop was gas sloshing. That is easily fixed though with carpet. I have seen met grayand green in addition to white, black red.. but hard to find. This particular truck had a smell of BO so even if I wanted to put up with the loud v6 I passed. I dont think one would ever get that smell out.
Im checking the usual sites 3-4 times a day. Lots of crew cabs but I just dont want a truck that long and the supercab 6.5's are the same length as super crew 5.5. So that leaves me with either a gen 13 scab 5.5' bed (hard to find and still too long) or a reg cab 6.5 (8ft doesnt look right to me). So I may have to go to low mile gen 12.. ideally a scab 5.5 which is VERY hard to find.
The Sterling Grey is actually an awesome color. My Sterling Grey Metallic Mustang
As for getting smells out, the F650 I drive at work had some food left in it that went bad and it is gone, amazing what a box of Arm and Hammer under the seat can do and Little Trees work wonders as well.
I feel your pain on a reg cab truck. This is also my truck of choice. Most out there are fleet vehicles.
i was able to find a used nicely equipped STX trim, reg cab, 6.5" bed, sterling gray, which was a color of choice. for me, the STX has just the right amount of options.
the one thing I did do, when time for new tires, I went from stock 235/75/17 to 255/70/17. Same height, so speedo still good, but a little wider/meatier stance.
