Talk to me about Batteries. My truck has 2 walmart maxx batteries in it and this seek i have noticed it being slow to turn over in the mornings or after sitting 10+ hours at work. I've had baduck with walmart batteries. Should I put motorcraft back in it or how is advance auto die hard batteries?
Not the experience I've had with Walmarts, but in the truck, I tend to flip them every 30 months on my dime. @~$97 each, the monthly lease is about the same as the best are. In our cars and tractors, they stay 3-4 years.
On the other end of the spectrum, get a set of 65-PC1750T for about $300 each.
I am now running the X2Power batteries, and they have been great for me so far (only about a year old though). I waited for a sale and got them for about $200 each: SLI65AGMDP (X2Power Premium AGM BCI Group 65 Car and Truck Battery)
Sorry I can't seem to get a good link to the actual product. (I got them from BatteriesPlusBulbs). https://www.batteriesplus.com/
Hard to say that they are actually worth the expense, but I just don't want to put up with the wet cell batteries.
The old Sears Diehard Platinums are being sold again through Advance Auto Parts. Even though I am constantly getting a 20% off coupon from them, it never seems to apply to these batteries. 10% is the best I have found on these.
They have a better warranty - 5 yr free replacement (if they fail early, I hope that BPB is easy to deal with).
The Odyssey battery has a 4 year warranty. A "plus" for the Odyssey PC1750T is that they are sold at Autozone (even though they will probably have to be ordered), and you can usually find some good sales for Autozone products.
While starting this morning after sitting overnight it dropped to 8.9 volts while cranking and jumped to 14.2 volts at idle. The batteries are 3 years and 2 months old per the sticker on them. 9/17, I didn't purchase the..
I agree. New batteries for you.
last time I needed some, I went to Costco for their Interstate version. I really expect about 3 years from them.
I have a boat battery from fleet farm that is dating 2008. Thought for sure it was not going to last the year, but still holds a charge like it was new.
As I understand it, the X2 Power is made by Northstar for batteries+Bulbs and the Odyssey 65-PC1750T is made by Enersys. Enersys started as a modest company making high end batteries. They have grown to a large multi-national company making many things (Alpha, PowerSafe, DataSafe, Hawker, Genesis, Odyssey, Cyclon, NexSys, Ironclad, General Battery, Fiamm, Motive Power, Oldham, and Express, are just the battery brands). A group of Employees left Enersys and started their own High end battery company, in competition with Enersys and voilà Northstar Batteries. The Northstar product line seemed to compete directly with Odyssey line both are/were well regarded. The Northstar brand was successful and as a result.....Wait for it, Enersys recently bought Northstar Batteries. https://www.batteriesplus.com/produc...sel/sli65agmdp https://www.ficmrepair.com/index.cfm...rod/prd703.htm
Good Luck, Russ
Well I went with the diehard gold series batteries. I had advance test my old batteries before we put the new ones in and they both tested good. He tried talking me out of getting the new ones. I was a little hesitant but I felt that the batteries was weak and the culprit. She turns over quick now.
