I had a code 18 on my 91 f250 5.8l every since I bought it. It runs good with some idle problems and have been trying to find what is throwing this code.
I found it the 22k resistor was open, but where the heck is it located? It is in the wire between the IM (ignition module) and the EEC (electronic engine control).
Book says the wire is tan with a yellow strip so i started stripping the cover of the cable at the 60 pin end found the tan/yellow wire and followed it back.
The resistor is in the cable that goes between the engine and the firewall and it is buried in the cable.
I shot a video because i haven't found one picture showing where it is.
mine was halfway between the PCM and the exhaust manifold. I used a razor blade very carefully and cut open the loom to find it. if in good condition it should be lettered, has heat shrink around it.
