Wheel well protection

Howdy y'all,

I was looking around on the internet and couldn't find any useful help, so I thought I'd check with the experts. I've got an '87 F250 and I'm working on getting her all bundled up for another hard northern winter. I'll be having an undercoat applied in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone has installed a set of wheel well liners to help reduce the amount of water/salt/devil **** that gets blasted onto the bottom of the body. Were any of y'all able to find a set that was made for the truck, or did you get one that was close and custom fit it? Thanks in advance!

Justin

I think LMC has them for your truck. They are called SPLASH SHIELDS. Junk yard should be a good source also.

Thanks for the lead on those splash guards, I looked them up and I've already got those ones installed. I was hoping to find a set that came down to provide more side coverage, kind of like the husky fender liners

There are fender flares and mudflaps. Both can be helpful in keeping the ick off your truck.

You could always make something out of plastic sheet or rubber, but be careful as the grime could get behind it and sit potentially.

I wash My truck off every couple days on the winter. Focusing on the underside

What we used to do back in the day when I was a teen in northern michigan when they used rock salt and it worked pretty well was apply roofing asphalt in the fender well. We'd cut it a little so it was easier to handle (it's messy as all get out until it sets up) and apply it with a trowel or putty knife.. We'd clean the fender wells out really well, let them dry, rough them up with like some 40 grit or so and then coat the inside.

tough, durable and the most importanat to us back then ..cheap.

Plus in the summer time it worked as a sound deadener when kicking up stones on gravel roads.
