I've got a 2003 F250 with the stock 16 inch wheels and 265/75 tires. Looking to perhaps go larger but stay Ford. From the specs it looks like stock Ford wheels should fit from any F250 up through 2014 or so. Am I missing something in my search? Are there limitations on steering lock? Seems like someone should have already asked this but I could not find the thread.
The 8x170 bolt pattern and 124.9mm center bore have been consistent in the Super Duties for the last 21 years.
The difference is the change in offset between '04 & '05.
2004 & older use wheels with a +6.3mm offset
2005 through current use wheels with a +40mm offset
How does this apply to your truck?
If you have wheels that are the same width but have the 2 offsets listed above, the centerline of the wheel/tire changes.
The +6.3mm offset will sit exactly where it currently sits.
The +40mm offset wheels will tuck into the fender (towards the centerline of the truck) by 33.7mm or 1.33".
This doesn't seem like much; however, when you turn your wheels at full lock, the tires are more likely to rub the radius arms.
This is why people that lift their vehicles and go with larger diameter and wider tires use a 0 or negative offset wheel to push the tire away from rubbing at full lock.
Below is a comparison to show how the same 8" wide wheel with 265/75r16 tires will sit near the suspension. The orange wheel is the 6.3mm offset and the green is the 40mm offset.
