mine was bad also , my hole bottom was rusted out, and had some spots on roof side. cut it all out and painfully welded new metal. I was sure the windsheild would not fit back in but it did. when i was done welding and grinding i used JB weld like bondo too smooth out it actually came out ok. take your time .

As said nice work, a little bit at a time and before you know it it is done.
When done if you can, try and treat the rust from the inside.

My 81 has a 2 panel roof, outer & inner and hard to get between the 2.
In my case I had to go in thru the dome light and the 2 sun visors holes to treat between the 2 panels.
I had to use expanding foam to keep the outer roof panel from caving in when sanding but to also insulate from the hot sun beating down on the roof in the summer.
Eastwood makes a internal frame coating that uses a long hose with a 360 spray head on the end that will coat everything. I have used it on a hood between the frame & outer skin to keep it from rusting and it coats pretty good.

Smile Yes, Thanks again!

Yes, Fuzzface2, I have already bought the Eastwood spray for internal spaces as I had read about it somewhere else on the Forum. I only have 1 layer to my roof, so much easier in a way for the insulation which I plan to do as another I read on our Forum using aluminized closed cell foam layered with styrofoam glued to roof above the headliner. Thank you for the encouragement & insights! You folks are the best medicine for getting this project brought to completion.
Shalom,
Joe

Hell yeah brother! Here's what mine looked like:

Made for easy removal of the windshield and seal, with both still intact. I replaced my cab with one which appears to match yours.
