Stock electric choke

Hey all. My '79 f150 has a stock 2150 carb with an electric choke. When I put my voltmeter + on the wire to the choke and the - the the ground, it only reads 2.1 volts. Can someone direct me where to look for bad connections?

Did you check with the truck running? The stock choke runs off the stator wire on the alternator.

And that wire to the choke is AC current, not DC like the rest of the truck. Alternator has to be spinning and energized.

I just picked up a 74 302 f100 for a couple grand. Needless to say the wires are in disarray. Nothing plugged into the choke. You said the stator wire from the alternator goes to it? Have two wiring diagrams but neither has the choke in the schematic.
