Hello everyone . How's the EPA Police been in Ca ?
Just found out that my Mother is on Hospice and having to make a drive there ASAP and be there for her .
So I'm just trying to get a feel for the trip .
Best thing you can do is to just keep it cool. Stay within the speed limits and NO ROLLING COAL. Was down there in august, Modesto area no problems.
Smokeploe
Hope things work out for you. Unless you are belching a lot of smoke, no one will bother you about EPA/CARB issues. Be mellow about it. If you are making a lot of smoke, it's possible some other motorist could report you, and then it's possible you could get pulled over. But the odds of that are pretty miniscule, especially in Bakersfield. It'd be more likely to happen in San Francisco or (near me) in Santa Monica, for example. Note that with your out of state license and registration, you needn't be compliant with California smog controls. But you could get hassled/ticketed for smoke.
While agree with keep it cool and don’t roll coal, if you are registered out of California and rolling coal CHP can and most likely will pull you over. Your vehicle has to meet the minimum emissions requirements (federal) it came from the factory with.
I recently was talking with a commercial CHP friend of mine and they are starting to crack down on the coal rollers.
Sorry to hear about your mom. It is a sad time for you I am sure. You have more to worry about than if your truck will pass smog. Just spend some quality time with your mom.
Bohen like others above have stated. Just drive normal and you will be fine. I live in so cal, deleted with a straight pipe no muffler. CHP has never messed with me but I don’t drive reckless. The truck has a mild/ clean tune. It occasionally blows a puff of black smoke when Full throttled. Good luck to you brother hope all is well prayers go out to you and your family.
