Diesel Fuel Addative

Thats the study that steered me into OptiLube products. OptiLube XL wasn't a product at the time, but OptiLube claims it performs better on lubricity than XDP which did really well in the above study.
But that study also points out some other good options, like Schaeffers, Stanadyne Lubricity, and Power Service.
Stanadyne also is one of the few additives that states they are a de-emulisifier. That means they do not try to force the water through the filers so the engine can burn it but makes the droplets clink together so they are larger and can be filtered out of the fuel.
Here are a couple emails i received from PowerService about their DieselKleen

Dear Larry,
Thank you for taking the time to contact Power Service. Our products are neither an emulsifier or demulsifier. They make water soluble in diesel fuel, or in other words it dissolves water and makes it part of the diesel fuel. The only additive that contains any alcohol is Diesel 911, and it contains a very safe, high molecular weight alcohol that will not cause any engine harm. If you have any further questions please give me a call at 817-599-9486 and ask for Jessica.
Thank you and have a great day,
Jessica Crabtree

Hello Larry,
Thank you for taking the time to contact Power Service Products. Diesel Kleen does not have capabilities to reduce the amount of water in the fuel system, it is designed as a performance additive to increase cetane for better fuel economy, improve the lubricity of the fuel to protect the high pressure components of the fuel system, and clean and prevent IDID's (internal diesel injector deposits) from building up on injector tips which could cause them to stick. Our product Clear Diesel disperses contaminates and removes water in diesel fuel as well as stabilizing fuel and preventing thermal and oxidation degradation of fuel stored up to a year. Clear Diesel is no an emulsifier or a de-emulsifier, it is designed to solubilize the water in the fuel and break it down into part of microns so small that they will not harm you engine or fuel system. Attached to this email are the tech bulletins for both products as well as our year round recommended treatment schedule for all of our products. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me at the number listed below and I will be happy to discuss them with you. Thank you for being a Power Service customer!
Respectfully,
Josh Randle

I'll wait for the naysayers to chime in about the additives like mine that breaks water down to the molecular level and encapsulates with a burnable compound which means it will burn in the combustion chamber and prevent rust and corrosion in the fuel system. No problems in 65k miles of driving. I've also had contact with a company representative for K100 also. They are only about 55 miles from my house. Been running it since new and I trust it.
K100 is product that does it all or so it says. It's an anti-gel, fuel stabilizer, eliminates water, cetane improver 1.5 to 2 points, adds lubricity, fuel system cleaner, dissolves alphaltenes and puts them back into the fuel, combustion improver and reduces paraffin formation in cold weather. Here's another link to the alphaltene problem with modern diesels and wouldn't you know it, it's another fuel additive.
