Grease nipple leak

Hi all,

Vehicle: 1993 F350 7.5L v8 460

When I got this truck there was some grease in some spots. Plan was always to wash it with purple power, get under the hood with engine degreaser, wash it all off and then wait and see where any leaks maybe comming from. Lucky for me all the leak under the hood was from the power steering being too full. Easy fix. But on the front passenger side grease nipple I noticed a small steady drip:

Every other drop you see in the photo besides what's on the nipple is just water so no worries. But the nipple slowly drips like this and I swear it's brake fluid as it's thin and clear. But there is no brake fluid flowing from the caliper to the nipple. I've watched it and it is just leaking from the nipple.

I'm a total newbie with trucks. This is my first one. I'm hoping someone can give me some insight into what this could be. The driver's side doesnt leak a single drop. I'm not having any driving symptoms.

Thanks

Fist thing I’d do, is wash the whole area down with brake cleaner or something, get it completely clean and dry and see what you have from there. Oils will separate in some greases and come out of solution over time too.

Ah separated grease oils....that seems so obvious now that you say it. Thanks.

wrong temp grease used, no thread sealant used when grease fitting screwed in, or the spring behind the grease fitting ball, is weak, and not sealing off, anymore.

I’ve never used thread sealer on a zerk fitting. Either the ball isn’t sealing or there is grit preventing it from sealing. Use a pick to depress the ball and try to free it up or just get a new one from the parts store and swap it out.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I like the idea of just getting a new one and swapping it in. While I have all you postmasters and elders attention maybe you can weigh in on my other thread here
