I have a newly installed clutch kit, Ram, with a zf5 trans. I have a growl in neutral at idle. When I look in the bellhousing, engine running, I can see the pressure plate wobbling, spinning out of true. I'm going to pull the trans tomorrow and inspect. Before I inspect it first hand, I'm thinking either the flywheel bolts are loose or there's a problem with the p.plate bolts. Could I be missing something else? Thanks.
DId this vehicle have a dual mass flywheel originally?
And if it did, did you replace it with a solid flywheel kit?
Manual transmissions sometimes will rattle in neutral after the dual mass is replaced with a conventional solid flywheel, this is normal and wont hurt anything, just annoying.

Hey there. To my knowledge, Ford never put a dual mass flywheel on a 4.9L. I've never seen one as a purchase option at any parts house.
I did find a couple of issues that may have been the culprit of the noises (I hope). BTW, I can live with the growl at idle, but the extremely loud 'marbles in a can' noise at low rpm in third is gut wrenching. I found that the header bolts that I used for the pp, since normal bolts were impossible to turn due to pp interference, had forced the mounting holes to enlarge. I also found two nicks on a reinforcement rib in the bellhousing.
In one place Summit says my clutch fits a 4.9. In another place on their site they say No, it does not fit. They can care less.
