Looking at potentially buying my wife a ford explorer and I'm wanting to spend less than 15k preferably and was wondering what the best powertrain and year would be.
Also wanting to know what common problems these have and what to look for when buying one. I won't be towing anything with it so id prefer to get the smaller motor for better mpg but I'd rather have the most trouble free vehicle over anything else. Any help would be much appreciated thanks in advance
I love the 3.5 Ecoboost. No issues with motor thus far. I did drill and tap PTO as there was not a drain plug and they are notorious for failure if fluid is not changed frequently. No complaints otherwise. Plenty of power to tow but with that means mileage drops. We don't tow a lot with it but on occasion to "work" the motor.
