The three studs in front of the ball joint, some type of steering arm attaches to it. What is the name of the arm and what is the torque spec? I needed to change the lower ball joint so of coarse did both. I unbolted this arm so I could press out/in both joints but can not find the torque spec in my Chilton or Haynes manuel. I do not find a diagram of the f250 4x4 steering to show this item name. If I know the name I may be able to find the torque value. Thanks for your help. Chris
Ball joint adjusting sleeve. Neither chilton nor haynes gives the torque for the ball joints. The instructions that came in the moog box say... 'Change the old sleeve for the new sleeve, (I don't see why but its in the box so ok.) Leave 2 threads exposed. Place knuckle into position. Tighten lower bjoint to 70 ft/lbs. Tighten sleeve to 70 ft/lbs. Tighten castle nut to upper ball joint to 100 ft/lbs"
When I tighten the sleeve to 70 ft/lbs, I have 3 threads BELOW the knuckle and I can not turn the steering knuckle by hand. Should I leave it that way or loosen it some? If I loosen it, what torque setting do I use?
