Howdy, I have an 87 F150 4x4 with a 302 and AOD. I am looking to build a clevor from a 351W and match it with a ZF5 trans. So far I am looking at a rebuild kit from summit on an 85 windsor engine, ported and polished Cleveland 2V heads and an Edelbrok intake to make the conversion. I am looking at a holley sniper for the EFI to give me the headroom to stroke the engine later. I am hoping to put Hooker longtubes on it but I am concerned about whether or not theyll fit in the truck or not. The goal is a torque machine that can cruise moderately well. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated.
Do you happen to have the cleveland heads already or are you just looking to do something different? If so I understand but there are now all kinds of windsor heads available that will outperform the 2V cleveland and those don't require a special intake or headers.. which will drive up the cost of the project.

The cleveland heads are to reduce cost, and the rpm range is more ideal than the 4V heads. The special intake and exhaust is a concern since I wont be able to mate them to other parts if i change them down the road
With low rpm torque and low cost as the primary goals, a set of GT40 heads on a 5.8 bottom end with a little more compression than stock would match or beat the cleveland combo. Does that '87 have EFI now? If so use an OEM style long runner EFI intake and a Pimpx ECU because it will plug right into the existing wiring harness and give you the tunability needed for any of these or future upgrades you might add down the road. These EFI intakes are expensive but this saves you the expense of completely replacing the whole EFI system.. which is fine except for the PCM.
If you want a bit more potential you probably won't beat the value in the TFS 170 cylinder heads... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/t...-m58/make/ford
Reduce cost with Cleveland heads on a 351W block ? That's an oxymoron. Plus you'll need to modify the heads to use them on a Windsor block. (block the coolant ports on the deck face and drill new ports on the intake side. It's not a simple operation.

Will those Trickflow heads bolt up to truck headers?? I thought the trickflow's used a square exhaust port??

You can buy Edelbrock aluminium heads that is made for a clevor. I doubt the OP wants to spend that kind of cash though.
