It's dated, but it works. Actually, I should say it looks and feels dated, but there have been and still are ongoing improvements. A majority or current users like the familiarity of it, so there has been an effort to keep it that way. I expect sooner or later more changes will come as operating systems become obsolete. Things pretty much look and function the same here as when I signed up. That has it's pluses and minuses. I guarantee if this site was "updated" to look and function like newer sites out there, many here would not be happy.

Yes but time moves on. Need to help some people step into the 2000's.
This forum's interface software is like working in DOS vs. WINDOWS. I would advocate upgrading. If you're not the lead dog, the scenery never changes! :-)

I'm 66 years old. If it ain't broke , don't fix it. 
But for me i have found that my desktop works much better than my tablet or phone on these types of websites.

Come to think of it....I did think of one change I would like to see.
The REP system is outdated and kind of flawed. I always have about 6 members that I cannot give REPs to because I've already REP'd them. I'd like to see a LIKE button. Anytime someone makes a worthy post hit the LIKE button. It seems to be popular on a lot of forums.
