1995 F-150 4X4 Gas MPG?
I recently purchased a 95 f150 4x4 Super cab and I am not pleased with the gas mileage I am getting. It has a 302 with 5 speed manual transmission. I get anywhere from 10-12 MPG and was wondering what other people get with this combination?

I have a 94 F150 4x4 SWB with a 302 and a manual trans. I get 8-10 on a good day and less on a bad one due to some intermitent problems with the fuel injection or ignition systems. I have been looking for the problem for more than a year, dont have a clue.

i used to have a 93 shortbed f-150 with an eaod and a 302, it had 33.1250's with 355 gears, after doin a basic tune up...wires, plugs, rotor cap, new coil, cleaning throttle body, new thermostat and puttin an egr position sensor on it, i was gettin 15-17 mpg

I have an '89 F-150 4x2 5sp maual 302 efi and the millage sucks. I get 12 mpg no matter how I slice it. I have been working on the problem for over two years. Also it knocks real bad. I purchased a decoder and need to replace the O2 sensor and the EGR stuff. I think I have a 355 rear end in it. Lots of people who I talk to said that is what the ford 302 is all about, bad gas millage. Whith gas prices the way they are and the way they are going I am getting concerned.
I have been putting off the sensor ($52.00). But that is about what it cost my last fill up.

I have an 89 SuperCab with the 302 and 4 speed tranny. I get 13-14 mpg on the highway. I need to replace the EVP sensor though according to my scan tool. I don't know if it will help or not.

I have a 1993 F-150 with the 302/E40d. I avg 20mpg's, and best I got was about 23. I have a chip/filtercharger/and dual exhaust with a few other mods.
I also have a 89 like Fire's (302/Aod/4x4) and it gets a continueous 14mpg.
These are at 70mph.

All this time I was wishing I had the 302 instead of my 300/6. It gets a steady 15 MPG. I just bought a 93 Escort wagon for my 60 mile a day comutes to work. It now has 127,000 miles on it. I just tuned it up and it returned 38.5 MPG
I was impressed! Eleven dollars and 400 miles per tank. I save wear and tear on my truck and by leaving it parked awhile will pay off the Escort in no time. Those gas prices are going higher...

Usually don't post on this board, I'm on the 60's/70's side of this mountain, but the Escort is the way to go for basic moving. The '89 I bought new still gets a steady 36 mpg with 113k on 'er. Cheap to repair also.

i have the same truck with the same tranny and its not a super cab. on the front tank (19gals) i go 244-249 miles. so i get 12 mpg. i believe it is excellent for a truck. i reallly dont understand the fuss everyone makes if you want god gas milage get rid of the trck and get a new fangled mini-car. i believe that those small cars they make today are great on gas but what can you do with them?

You guys may not believe me but my '81 with a stock 302 and AOD gets me 20 mpg on the freeway. It's an f100 light duty model with pretty tall gears I'm sure. I think it might get 12 in town. I usually make a trip from up northern washington down to Eugene Ore. and have a 1/4 tank left in the front, and near 1/2 tank left in the rear. Mark.

I sure would like to know what these guys with 4X4 F-150s with 302's getting 20 miles per gallon are doing. My 96 F-150 4X4 E40D auto gets 15 mpg (best)on the highway in overdrive at 70 mph. City mileage is probably about 13. The truck is a reg cab short box with several modifications including: Gibson cat-back exhaust, K&N FIPK (mass-air equipped), JBA shorty headers, Jet computer chip, Jet 180 degree thermostat, Bosch Platinum 4 spark plugs, 31 x 10.5 BF Goodrich Radial All Terrain T/A's, Summit cab visor, Lund bug guard and 3.55 gears. I run midgrade (87-89 octane) fuel and synthetic motor oil and auto trans fluid. I live in Colorado, so most of my driving is at higher altitudes (4,500 to 6,500 ft above sea level), so maybe the altitude affects my mileage but 20 mpg seems to be quite a stretch with a similar combination.

I have a 1993 F150 extended cab 300 I6 with a short bed 4x2. When my parents bought the truck new in 93 the sticker on the window said 17 city 21 highway. I don't know how accurate that is because i was only 12 then and didn't get to drive it.
Now that i'm 18 and driving to college (about 9 miles a day), i use the truck for regular commuting. And, now that i'm driving the truck i've benn noticing how hard it is to keep this truck filled up.
I now estimate the truck gets 11-17 MPG depending on how heavy my foot feels that week.
Now i've heard some of you getting your truck back up to the 18-21 MPG range. how can you get it back???
i heard someone saying they did a major tune-up, EGR replacement, new exauhst, air filter, and plugs. This seems to be the most logical thing to do but not the most "econmical" for an 18 year old. But, i'm saving my money for the summer to do it.
So i need your help. Tell me, and everyone else more pointers, they're all great and i appreciate the advice. I really love this truck no matter how stuborn it can get.

I too am a proud owner of a 94 F150 4x2 Supercab
with 302 automatic w/355 limited slip rear end.
I was avg. 15-17 mpg when newer but now am getting
only 11 mpg if I'm lucky. My truck only has 77k mi. on it. I just had the torque converter go out and had all that fixed. I've put new wires, plugs, filters, distrib. cap. None of these seem to help. The truck seems to be running fine but just drinking alot. I also had an analizer hooked up and was told exhaust ckecks normal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

And that's about it. I keep it tuned up, somewhere under warp 9, and no matter how hard or easy I drive it, on the hiway or in the city, I still get 12.5 max.
