PSA - Thunderstruck Bumpers

So, ordered a bumper directly from Thunderstruck as nobody had it in stock.... including them. Had to wait a few weeks, which is fine, I wanted made in America, paid for quality.

Got the bumper, and I'm pretty disgusted with the welding job.

I'm going to reach out and b!tch at them Monday, but for $1000+ after shipping, this looks like crap, I SUCK at welding, and I feel like I could do better.

You're best off to lightly grind the highest rough areas and then sprayed with Linex. Hopefully their paint adhesion is good ?!

Wow. Yeah, a couple of those are absolutely horrid. I haven't run a bead in probably 20 years and could do better than that!

Very strange the actual company didn’t have it in stock.

Are you 100% sure it was made in the USA?

Too bad. I like the lines of the design but that’s putrid. As others said, I’d be inclined to complain and try to get a partial refund, then grind it down in any real bad places. Then coat it with something high build and sin-concealing like linex.

No way would I accept that.
Disappointing for sure.

Looks like the same welder Lippert uses for their RV frames.

That looks like something I'd fab up in 30 minutes to throw on a 20 year old truck.

For $1000+, I'd consider that a savage boning. Welding skill looks like someone just starting out.

Point them to this thread, and ask them why they'd let that out the door for a customer.

After paying over a grand for it, I shouldn't have to. And I don't want some Jeeptard linex job. I paid extra for matte black powder coat.
