I am going to do a 3-4" SUSPENSION lift on my 99 -350. I was looking at a Pro Comp that one of our docs put on his excursion. Looked pretty nice with his 6". He said it took about 8 hours for him to do, but allot of that time included working on the back springs putting in the add a leafs.
I am looking at both driveablity as well as looks. I have used lifts before that made the truck drive like a truck, and with my SD I am kind of fond of the ride it has now, especially in my declining years.
Probably won't have any feedback on mine until I get home from Baghdad the end of March, but will let you know how it goes.
Ahhhh, I love it here! Ya'll make me laugh.
I look forward to it! Best of luck to you! Thank you!!!!!!!!
You are right, There are plenty of guys with lots of knowledge on this site.
Unfortunetly, there are some who think that just because one guy does something different, that the info is wrong.
Which in turn leads to some users no longer offering info because they are sick of defending themselves for not doing what "everybody" else does or what others have told them to do.
I for one, have tried to stay out of the lift questions, but every once in a while when some new user has to tell everybody how he is right and everybody else is wrong, I may chime in and point some things out.
I dont care what lift someone runs, all the pieces are the same, there is no one out there who has re invented the wheel, there may be some "heavier duty" than others, but nothing that has turned the "lift world" upside down.
One companies product may not be right for a users application, so it is good to have diversity in products offered.
I hate the fact that someone will come on here, ask a question, get some answers and then the people who gave the answers are made to feel like an idiot by a few users, some who have never even attempted to turn a wrench in there lives.
I remeber when opinions use to be respected and not trashed.
I've got to tell you, not tricking this truck is killin' me. I'm 54 years old, but I still like the power. This is the first truck I've ever had that didn't have at least headers and a chip, but I'm just waiting until I know all the bugs are worked out before I start to fool with it. Of course it is also the first one that had enough power when it drove off the lot. We hunt deer with hounds on really large trcts of land in Florida and Georgia, and those guys in the desert got nothing on us when the deer gets out of the block and we may have to go 5 or 6 miles to get around the next block before the chase can get straight thru it. So speed and handling in dirt are very important.
