Nothin' *wrong* perse..it's your money. Not my preference to spend money unless I'm improving utility and/or performance. And certainly not spend more for less.. Looks?.. Well I got over that in.. HS

Just stay away from "bullit hole" stickers and "spinner" wheels ummkay:P

Actually your center of gravity is lower with a body lift than with the same size suspension lift since only the body and not the frame, engine, trans, fuel tanks etc, etc are being lifted higher in the air. And where I come from where deep mud and deeper ruts are the name of the game the only mod that increases performance (besides lockers) is BIG tires. You can take your articulation any day. It don't make a bit of difference when your tires aren't touching the ground.

So I'd say yes body lifts fit their purpose of allowing bigger tires. You still get the same clearance between your axles and the ground and to me breakover angle (which is all they don't help) isn't important to the vast majority of wheelers.

I have a 3" body lift on my excursion and I'm happy with it. There are pro's and cons for either body or suspension lifts. Ultimately they both allow room for larger tire's which is the only way to increase ground clearance.

Oh! I don't live on a farm or have pimples... but I do have a profile with actual info in it and a gallery with pictures and a description of the truck I own.

What do they call Troll's round there?

gentlemen,

have you not learned that speaking with one of the whack pack is a no win situation? they were sold on a single solution, that being that the more you spend, the more you get!

it is cool... let them huddle together and pray on unsuspecting new users.... soon it will come to a head that FTE is a place where suspension can not be discussed rationally and we can get back to doing what we do best here....

whatever that is.....

do i hear banjo music from the deer stand??

Man zebo, shut up before you make yourself look any dumber. To your point as i quoted above you are in some cases incorrect. With stock springs they are often softer than new highly arched lift springs. At times these softer springs will allow more wheel travel, and more articulation.

Body lifts are just for HS students? Hmm, i believe that attitudes and ignorance liike yours are also reserved for HS students. Body lifts are often used in conjunction with suspension lifts to all0ow room for bigger tires. Sure, Yeti could clear his tires with just his suspension lift, however the body lift gives it a taller look with more fender clearaance without spending a lot of money. Where is the downside to that?

Zebo, you need to be more open minded. People mod their trucks the way that best fits what they want. If someone likes lowriders heck, have at it. Thats their business. Or if someone wants to use a body lift, so be it. Why do you care? Get a life and quit wasting peoples time.

The Fabtech 3.5" w/o shocks is about the same price as the Edge 3" w/o shocks and you get less with the Fabtech........Bilstein shocks are the smart way to go with either one.

Isn't referring to a group of people as the whack pack a flame????..........no couldn't be since you rarely if ever do that .

Have a nice day .

Didn't mean to start a fight. I actually think that whoever lifted my old Z71 probably was a high school kid. (Body Lift, big mud tires, big stereo, the works) I bought the truck used as a hunting rig, and I don't think it had ever been off road(too clean, no dents, not even in the driver's door!). I have never lifted a truck before, but I have had trouble in the past with tire rub, especially under really hard driving on dirt roads during a deer chase.
Lifting a chevy is easier with a body lift, I just don't have any experience with a Ford.
The only thing that matters where I drive off road is how big the tires are, which decides how far it is from the "pumpkin" to the road(or stumps, or trees, etc.) and how often those tires hit the fender wells. But thanks for advice

Ah. I love reading the treads, by the first couple of replies, no more information is being passed on, but I laugh my butt off!

I am going to do a 3-4" SUSPENSION lift on my 99 -350. I was looking at a Pro Comp that one of our docs put on his excursion. Looked pretty nice with his 6". He said it took about 8 hours for him to do, but allot of that time included working on the back springs putting in the add a leafs.
I am looking at both driveablity as well as looks. I have used lifts before that made the truck drive like a truck, and with my SD I am kind of fond of the ride it has now, especially in my declining years.
Probably won't have any feedback on mine until I get home from Baghdad the end of March, but will let you know how it goes.

Ahhhh, I love it here! Ya'll make me laugh.

I'm pretty new to this board, (only looked for it to see if anyone could help me figure out how to change that $75 air filter), but there are clearly some guys here who have some very valuable info about Ford trucks. With any of my 6 prior Chevy 4x4's I only needed a hammer to made the starter work when wet and muddy, and a spare fule filter and wrenchs to change it when it got crappy. I took my F250 into the woods to hunt for the first time Saturday, and quickly found I badly need tires. I can't get the power to the ground, and that big thing justs sits there and spins the tires when I hammer it. So I guess I need to get to work
