I know there have been many posts on pvc valves on y block motors. I have a draft tube on the front driver side. Can I block this off. And then drill a hole into my valve covers and put a pvc valve into the valvecovers? Or do I need to put a connector from the draft tube block off to the bottom of carb spacer?
thanks
jerry
You would have to be careful putting a pcv on the valve cover i reckon .
They really need some sort of baffle under the pcv to prevent it sucking oil .
i have seen the y blocks with a pcv at the back of the valley pan , and i think the later y blocks came from the factory with a pcv in the valley pan ?
You could block the draft tube, put a pcv in one valve cover and a fresh air supply into the opposite cover. That would duplicate the "usual" system as seen by the early to mid '60s and later.
As noted above, a valve cover fitting should be baffled to prevent oil reaching the pcv. You could check out some later valve covers for an idea of what the factory used.
My valve covers don’t have a pcv baffle. Can I use a pcv valve without a baffle? Also on my oil filler it is vented. So I wouldn’t need breather on the other valve cover?

If you don't add a baffle, you risk having oil splash on the pcv, increasing the amount of liquid ingested via the system. It's supposed to keep oil out, but there is a reason they are baffeled and separated from direct oil splash.
Earlier systems used the oil fill breather on the opposite valve cover as the air source. You could use your oil filler as well. But, it's hard to get decent filtration out of a lot of those caps, which is one reason they went to pulling air out of the air cleaner housing with a small filter inside.
Sucking dusty air into the crankcase wouldn't help the cause, so keep that in mind.
So I can block off vent tube. And just run vented oil cap that comes off the valley lifter pan? And is there a way to add a baffle to underside of valve cover?
