Mounting Trailer Camera System

I purchased a
Trailer Camera System Off Of AMAZON Trailer Camera System Off Of AMAZON
a Yakry YA27S HD 1080P Digital Wireless 4 Backup Camera for RVs/Trailers/Trucks. My Question is there is a Indentation that would be a good place to mount the Monitor portion of this system. Is it okay to mount this monitor up there with 4 1/2" screws? I would also be needing to drill a 3/8 hole for the power jack to fit through. I will remove the rubber pad up there and and make a slit in the rubber as to keep it less intrusive. (most likely will pick up a extra new rubber pad for replacement in case I sell the truck) The System comes with 4 Night Vision Cameras. I will be using this on two trailers so I most likely will be buying a couple extra cameras I also have ordered this F-350 XLT Truck with Upfitter Switches. Does anybody have a Pin Out and location of these wires? I would like to power on the screen with one of those. The Cameras on the Trailer will be powered on by t6he running lights. thanks

The right way to do it would be to remove that tray altogether and attach it off the vehicle. Plenty of instructions on how if you look at builtrite installs.

some pictures so you know what’s under there.

note this is mine with power ports installed in it.

This is where I put my camera monitor as well. It's a pretty easy install and plenty of places to ground to. I ran power off the fuse box in the passenger kick panel. As for the rubber insert, i just removed mine entirely. Not a whole lot goes in that upper area except for the monitor and the rubber insert wasn't providing any benefit. So by removing it, I didn't have to cut a hole in it, and can put it back if I sell the truck.

Thanks Guys! So you installed the tray back, after you mounted the monitor to the tray and ran the wires right? I Would like a Pic of your completed install if you could please. Thanks

I use a hardwired trailer camera system but it has a similar screen.

I bought one of these and it looks and works beautifully:
https://www.builtrightind.com/produc...015-ford-f-150

So I mounted that bracket to the truck's built in tray per the directions.

I then used thin quarter sized rare earth magnets (about 6 of them) and stuck them to the bottom of my screen's metal bracket using thin 3M UHB tape.

When I am towing, I can place the screen on the bracket and the magnets hold it perfectly in place. When I am not towing, I can slide it off and store it in the console.

Works better than a dream!

I will snap a couple pics when I go out for lunch.

You can waste an upfitter on this if you want to but there is also an ignition switched power source in the PTO bundle in the passenger foot well compartment where the cabin fuse box is located.
Here is the info on the upfitter wiring :https://madocumentupload.marketingas...1fb63&v5=False
Be aware that the 2020 moved the box to the passenger side of the engine compartment.

Here is more info on the PTO bundle and the pass through wires you can use in conjunction with the upfitter wiring out of the relay box under the hood:

Nice looking work nice and clean, and the Maggots are a good idea. The less goodies you can showing the better from the thief's prying eye's keep the temptation to a minimum. I like the quick removal idea. I ordered one of those mounts today Boy Ole BUILTRITE is pretty proud of that bracket @ $51.99 out the door Damn! Jesh what's another$52.00 when I spent6 nearly 60 Grand plus the 5th wheel hitch and 5th wheel my daughter asked Boy Dad how much did that set ya back? I said not a dime, I spent you and your sisters inheritance! Thanks!Brantel

It is an expensive bracket for what it is but it looks almost like an OEM part once installed.

Just ordered some MAGGOT'S off of Flee-Bay this morning I got them 1" X 3mm thick a Quarter is .950" and a Nickle is .834" By your picture yours look to be a Nickle size as I laid both the Quarter and Nickle on my bracket and compared to your picture and
yours looks to be a Nickle Size not that it matters as long as it holds good. Anyway I ran Across these 1" Maggots that have an adhesive backing already they should be plenty strong. Thanks again for all yer help! You Rock!

If you have a local Rural King store, that is where I picked up my magnets. Your correct, mine are something in between a quarter and a nickle.

This might be a cheaper alternative for the mounting bracket -
Amazon Amazon

Size is 4.7" x 4.2", which is probably big enough to work. Not as professional or OEM looking as the Built Right, but 1/3 the cost too.
