Finally got the transmission mated to the block. Installed a Hughes F35XTM torque converter. The powermaster 9506M starter has plenty of room now. The headers are Stans Tri-Y 244-14 L. They fit like a glove! I can’t seem to upload pictures to my original post so here it is........
Beautiful. Can you post some front on clearance shots of the headers as they clear the sides of the oil pan? My headers are super close to my oil pan and I'm looking for headers with more clearance. Thanks!
Look like nice fitting hedders. Approximate cost? Any rear shots? Curious to see where the collector comes out. Hard to tell by pictures. Also, what head flange? I am running BBM heads on my FE but used my old heddman hedders for the time being. They fit totally different than that. I like how you did your plug wires! What kind of "holders" are those? Very clean and nice work.
Well, the headers aren’t cheep. They run $788 plus’s shipping and then I had them Jet hot coated. Good thing is I bought mine 20 years ago and didn’t pay that much and then Jet hot re coated them as part of the lifetime warranty they have. The head flange on the headers is how they come from Stan’s. They are 3/8” thick and my headers are the 14 gauge. The exit just under the brace. New re-coat from the before picture. Here is where they hook to 20 years worth of use before the re-coat
Thanks, that tells me what I wanted to know. My Heddmans exit on the other side of the front drive shaft. It is tight in there with the springs etc. Not a bad price considering the quality and obviously they stand behind them. When these give up the ghost, or I find the gaskets won't hold up to the mismatch on the heads, I had planned on calling Stan's. The BBM ports are a little different than the D2 OEM heads but from all my measurements the gaskets should live. Heddman's are definitely cheapos, but they have held up so far. That is going to be a nice rig once you get it done.
