2010 FEH Ignition Switch Issue?
Normally when turning the truck on I will just turn the ignition to 'ON' while verifying I have all my gear.
When ready to get going I'll turn the key to 'START' and get going.
However, there have been a couple times where I've been in a rush and simply hop in, rotate the key all the way to START with no pause to 'ON'.
What happens is when releasing the key to return to 'ON' the truck will not be 'ON' but the Wrench/SES lamp will illuminate. I've hooked up a scanner to see if there are any codes and the scanner communicates but no codes are present. Dash is dead. Cannot place the truck in gear. It's almost like there is no key in besides the Wrench/SES lamp on and the scanner communicating with the PCM, yet no codes.
Rotate the key back to OFF/LOCK and then rotate normally to 'ON'(dash lights come on as normal) and then START and the truck operates normally.
I'm guessing that the ignition switch may be getting worn(10yr/90Kmiles).
There are no heavy keys/trinkets/charms weighing down on the lock cylinder.
I have not yet experienced power/ignition/engine cutting out while driving.
Has anyone else experienced such 'weirdness' with their FEH?
Now as I'm sitting here, I can't recall if putting my foot on the brake pedal matters when turning to ON/START.
EDIT: Not sure what was going on above but I think it may have been a massive brain fart.
Been driving the '17 FFH and got into the '10 FEH, had to use an actual key rather than puhsbutton. Turning the key it's a bit stiff, cylinder may need some lube. Took a moment to realize I have to turn the ignition to 'START' to get the 'ready to drive' symbol on and the CEL lamp off./EDIT
