hello everyone it been a while since i was on the site but now im back and need help or advice on my 1986 f150 i came back home from overseas tour just to find my block full of water so i pulled it out and tore down to bare block just wanna get advice whether it worth rebuilding or not
If the bores are rusty and can't be cleaned up, I think you are done with that block. You might want to take it to them and see if it can be honed to take out any rust and to check for any wear.
You did not say how the water got into the block?
I don't think it gets that cold to freeze and crack the block or head or is someone screwing with you?
Open air filter and a bad cowl to hood seal let rain water get to the filter?
Also what motor is this 300 or v8? Might be better to get a rebuilt either a short block or complete and drop it in.
Nice looking truck, would look crazy sitting next to my red & white flare side LOL

its a 302 and it did freeze in nc when i was on overseas tour i left water in it but wat confusing me is truck sat for over 1yr not being started and it still got water in motor
There is water in the pan likely because the block fractured when it froze and dumped the cooling system into the pan. The block is 0.040" over the crank 0.020" under and it has been frozen just scrap it.
302's are easily available and it would be a good time to upgrade to a roller block.
It would not hurt to pull the intake to see if the intake gasket went bad to leak water into the oil pan.
I say this because in the 5 years I have been down here, not far from Raleigh, I don't think it has gotten that cold over a few days to turn the block into a ice cube and crack.
But that is me.

motor is torn down in process looks like whoever built motor did a bad job because some of intake manifold ports was rtv over but i still gonna take to machine shop soon and get answer. i did some side work for older guy installing a motor and trans in his truck and return he gave me a small block 400 and auto trans out of 77 to 79 f250
You said this was a 86 302? That means it's fuel injected correct? You will have to do some modifications to the fuel system to make the 400 with a carb work out. And you will have lots of wires left over.
A little RTV around the water cross over ports is OK a lot is not.
Could you see if it may have been leaking at the ports into the lifter valley?
I always like to know where the water came from just so I know.
